Clinical Interview
The first part of testing is a clinical interview that allows the neuropsychologist to better understand your current concerns and the reason for the evaluation in the context of various aspects of the patient’s current level of functioning and background history. It is not necessary to bring someone along, but it can be very helpful to the neuropsychologist for the patient to bring a family member, spouse, case worker, or other familiar person with them to provide additional perspective and information.
Testing
Test administration follows the clinical interview and lasts between 2 and 5 face-to-face hours depending upon the reason you were referred. You are encouraged to take breaks as needed.
After testing is completed, the neuropsychologist will spend time scoring the test results. The neuropsychologist will integrate all of the data obtained throughout the evaluation and will write a comprehensive but concise report. The report includes all relevant aspects discussed during the interview, a summary of test results, diagnosis (if appropriate), and treatment recommendations.
Feedback
Feedback is an optional follow-up appointment that allows you to discuss the test results, questions you may have about evaluation findings, and/or review of recommendations with the neuropsychologist. We encourage you to schedule this session to ensure you understand your test results.
